I am requesting information about a former crew member, my cousin Ens. Loren Isley who was a pilot and member or Air Group 10 on board Intrepid during WWII. He was reported KIA on March 18, 1945 during a raid against Japanese naval installations on Kyushu, in a large run-up action to the invasion of Okinawa about a month later. He was mentioned very briefly in a recent book about the USS Intrepid and the closing days of WWII called: "The Twilight Warriors." Any information would be greatly appreciated. - Thanks, Dan Mack, Email: d_mack@q.com Posted Sept 9, 2011
I was on the Intrepid from '65 to '67. I'm looking for any aviation ordnanceman in 'G' Division. I can be contacted by email at ccp1980@att.net - FCM Clarence (Bert) Perry Posted August 29, 2011
I was the PN3 in charge of the personal office when VF-33 when abroad the USS Intrepid in July 1957. Our home base was NAS Oceania. I believe we were the first air group on the carrier after she came out of re-fitting with the angle deck from the Philadelphia Navy Yard. This was the shake down cruise. In early August VF-33 TAD to Gitmo for gunnery and other exercises. The carrier returned to Norfolk for minor repairs and provisioning for a round the world tour. I left the ship at the end of August for release active duty. I do not remember the CAG number. I do remember some of the pilots' names - Mrs. Flowers;Welcome, and Seibert. We had an Air Force pilot assigned to VF-33 during this time. I also have some film (8mm) of the Intrepid refueling a DD at sea. I would like to hear from anyone who may be a former VF-33 member...enlisted or officer. Thanks. FCM Tom R. Tirney, PN3, VF-33. Email: trt100@aol.com Posted August 29, 2011
I’m looking for anyone that was in R-Div. Mainly in the Ship Fitter Shop. I served onboard the Intrepid 68, 69 & 70. I came onboard on a C-2 Greyhound when the Intrepid was in the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of Vietnam. Around September 68!! I worked for Chief Rhame & petty officer 1st class Kessiner. Both were good to work for. If anyone worked in the shop give me a shout. I live in Danville VA.
Hi John, I'm Jim Muse, and I'm trying to track down info on a crash from the Intrepid in the summer of '55. LTjg William (Scott) Chadwick was flying an AD Skyraider with VA-45 and the family says he was killed during a flight off of Malta. He was my Dad's 1st cousin, so I think that would have made him my great-uncle or thereabouts...I was wondering if you or any of the veterans from that time might have a cruise book or know someone from that squadron at that time who might be able to provide some more info - even the date would be helpful. I'm active duty myself and can get over to the Navy Yard to do some research, but think having a liffle more info would be helpful. Thanks much & hope all is well! I can be reached easily by email at muses44@gmail.com , take care, Jim Muse. Posted August 11, 2011

He was reported KIA on March 18, 1945 during a raid against Japanese naval installations on Kyushu, in a large run-up action to the invasion of Okinawa about a month later. I don't know if I am contacting the appropriate person or not? If not, would you please forward this request to anyone who you might feel would be that person or persons? I realize that it has been many, many years, and perhaps there is no one left who remembers him. I remember him vividly, however. I was nearly 5 years old at that time and he was then and has remained a beloved hero for all of my life. He was mentioned very briefly in a recent book about the USS Intrepid and the closing days of WWII called: "The Twilight Warriors."
