PURPOSE :
The U.S.S Intrepid Association, Inc. was established to promote and assist in the preservation and remembrance of our gallant ship, the U.S.S. Intrepid (CV, CVA, CVS-11) and to honor all those who served on her.
OBJECTIVE :
- Assist the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in every way possible to preserve and maintain our ship.
- Organize reunions so that former crewmembers and their descendants may visit the ship regularly and meet with
former shipmates.
- Maintain memorial displays and organize memorial services, as appropriate, to remember those who have
made the supreme sacrifice.
- Organize other events, such as Christmas parties for disadvantaged children, anniversaries of WWII events,
fleet week activities, etc., as to enhance the public awareness of Intrepid.
- Maintain an organization of former crewmembers and their descendents throughout the world to permit them to
remain in touch with their ship and all activities involving her.
- Publish newsletter venues on a regular basis informing all members of the activities involving the Intrepid and
their Association.
- Raise funds as necessary to support the programs of the Association.
- Grant scholarships, as appropriate, to deserving descendents of former crewmembers.
- Sponsor and organize any other activities to help attain the objectives stated as our purpose.
The power of the Association resides in its members. These powers are exercised
on behalf of the Membership by an elected Board of Directors.
MEMBERSHIP : - ELIGIBILITY - Application
A. Any person who was attached to the USS INTREPID (CV, CVA, CVS11) during its time of active service, in a
permanent and/or temporary status, whether ship’s company, detachment, air group, squadron, or stall.
B. A person who is or has been a member of the Armed Forces of the United States.
C. Widows, spouses and family members of former crewmembers as outlined in A above.
D. Honorary members as selected by the Board of Directors.
E. Friends of the Association.
